For guests who prefer comfort, atmosphere, and a central location, we highly recommend Grand Hotel Egersund – a charming historic hotel in the heart of town, just a short distance from the wild landscapes of the south-west coast.
Located in the beautifully preserved wooden town centre of Egersund, Grand Hotel Egersund offers a unique blend of history, character, and modern comfort. As the oldest hotel in Rogaland, with roots dating back to 1878, the hotel combines heritage and hospitality in a way that feels both authentic and welcoming.
The hotel is made up of ten beautifully restored wooden buildings, all connected indoors, creating a stay that feels both intimate and full of character. Each room is unique, shaped by the history and style of the building it belongs to, while still offering the comfort and convenience modern travellers expect.
Grand Hotel is an excellent base for exploring Egersund and the surrounding region. From here, you are close to the harbour, the charming town centre, local shops, cafés, and the landscapes of Magma UNESCO Global Geopark. For guests looking for a truly unique and atmospheric stay, we highly recommend Sogndalstrand Kulturhotell – a historic coastal hotel set in one of Norway’s best-preserved old seaside villages.
Located about 30 minutes south of Egersund, Sogndalstrand is a place unlike anywhere else. With its narrow street, charming wooden houses, and peaceful setting between river, sea, and steep hillsides, the village feels like a step back in time. Staying here is not just about finding a place to sleep – it is about becoming part of a living piece of Norwegian coastal history.

FISKARHEIM IN NESVÅG
For small groups looking for something truly special, we highly recommend Fiskarheim in Nesvåg – a unique overnight stay where you live right in the middle of a living coastal museum and authentic Norwegian fishing heritage.
Located in the historic harbour community of Nesvåg, just a short drive from Egersund, Fiskarheim offers a rare and memorable experience for guests who want more than a standard place to stay. Originally built in 1883, the house has been carefully dismantled, moved, and rebuilt here, where it now stands as an important part of the cultural environment surrounding Nesvåg Motor Museum.
Furnished in traditional style, with paraffin lamps, a wood-burning stove, and no running water, Fiskarheim offers a simple and atmospheric stay that feels like stepping back into another era. This is not about luxury in the modern sense – it is about authenticity, history, and the chance to experience coastal life the way it once was.
